Programs

Our Programs

To the world YOU may only be one person, but to one person YOU may be the world! For just a few hours a couple of times a month, YOU can help a child succeed.

We have programs available to fit conveniently into your schedule. We offer quarterly planned events and our professional staff stay in regular contact, providing support, advice and activity ideas. You can meet with a child during the weekend, during their school day, or after school, which ever works best for you.

Volunteering does not have to be time consuming; it is as simple as including a child into your typical day. The only qualification is a desire to have fun and make a new friend. Because all of our children are so special and unique and have a variety of interests we need mentors who come from all walks of life.

The Match!

How do we match the Big and the Little? It is a very careful professional process. Find out what the process is like and what is expected of our Bigs and Littles.

VIRTUAL MENTORING OPTIONS AVAILABLE

Community-Based Mentoring

In the Community Based program a volunteer is matched with a child between the ages of 5 and 15 years of age for a minimum of one year. The match meets 2 to 4 times a month to participate in activities out in the community they both enjoy.

Activities include:

  • Taking a walk in the park
  • Going to a museum
  • Seeing a movie
  • Going to the library
  • Throwing a football around
  • Hanging out and talking

Scheduling is flexible – each match is unique and develops its own schedule.

School-Based Mentoring

It may sound obvious, but sometimes the best place to help a child realize their potential is at a school. Volunteers travel to a local Ozaukee County elementary or middle school, where they provide one-on-one time and attention, once a week during the school year. To participate in the program, students must be referred by school personnel. Please contact us for additional information regarding the referral process.

Activities include:

  • Helping with homework
  • Read together
  • Playing games
  • Enjoying interactive educational activities
  • Hanging out and talking
